Blowdown valves
Blowdown valves on the boiler bottom. Deposits form very quickly on the bottom of industrial steam boilers. These deposits can only be effectively removed by abruptly opening and closing a valve on the bottom of the boiler; this process is called periodic blowdown. This is an extremely demanding application that requires a robust, reliable product. The GESTRA blowdown valve meets this task by opening very quickly and for a duration of two seconds, creating a vacuum at the bottom of the boiler. The resulting suction removes the sediment – also called boiler sludge – from the bottom of the boiler. The valve is designed to close safely and without leakage. The blowdown effect is only effective in the first two seconds. Longer opening of the valve would only lead to water loss.
